New flight for AatmaNirbhar Bharat; New milestone achieved in smartphone production

With the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan campaign, the manufacturing units in the country are now touching new heights. In Mann Ki Baat, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Modi Ji has asked the whole country to become “Vocal for local”. Inspired by this, gradually the country is also walking on the path of progress. India has secured second position in the world in the production of mobile handset units.

India ranks second in the world with 450% growth in mobile production

According to the Department of Communication, in the last 5 years, more than 200 mobile manufacturing units have been established in India. Which till 2014 were about 2 units. Till that time only 6 million mobiles were manufactured in India. From 2019, 33 crore mobiles have been manufactured in India. Due to this, the value of the manufacturing units has increased from $3 billion to $30 billion.

All major mobile manufacturers like Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, Vivo have opened their units in the country. Due to which the economy has also got a boost along with employment in the country.

Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, Xiaomi India Head Manu Kumar Jain says that 99 per cent of the phones in their Indian manufacturing units are now Made in India. Of which 65 per cent of phone parts are produced locally. In which 95 per cent of the 35000 workforces are women.
