This year, Oneplus launched its 3 smartphone variants in India: Oneplus 9, Oneplus 9 pro, and Oneplus 9R. As we know, Oneplus 9 launched with a price tag of ₹ 49,999 and Oneplus 9 Pro from ₹ 59,999. Oneplus promises its users will ”Never Settle” with its products. They offer premium features at affordable price points. Last year, Oneplus Nord launched to rule in mid-tier too with remarkable specifications in this price range.
Oneplus 9 pro and Oneplus 9 both features Hasselblad branded camera systems. And they take smartphone photography to the next level. Off-course we are not getting Hasselblad branding with Oneplus 9R. but it still provides a great camera module with its four camera lenses.
Oneplus promises that even though Oneplus 9R costs less than its costlier cousins. But it still delivers the flagship-class power. So, how good this new budget-oriented smartphone from Oneplus. Let’s find out.
Oneplus 9R Specifications:
Oneplus 9R comes with 6.55-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120 Hz Fluid Display. Under the hood, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor with the support of 5G. Oneplus 9R comes with 8GB or 12GB RAM + 128GB or 256GB storage variants. It comes with a 48MP camera Main Camera, 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera. Remember that we are not getting Hasselblad branding anywhere with this smartphone.
There’s a 4500 mAh battery with a 65W fast charging adapter included in the box. Which is a good thing, as many other smartphone companies removed charger from the box. There is no wireless charging support, which is unfortunate at this price point. It provides a Hi-res audio experience with dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
9R breathes the same Oxygen OS for Android 11. With all the features you were expecting, like custom navigation gestures, always-on-display, and plenty of other customization options offered with Oxygen OS. Oneplus 9R price starts from ₹ 39,999 in India.
What is good?
In terms of pricing, Oneplus 9R is a balanced smartphone between the price and specifications it provides. Oneplus 9R is basically Oneplus 8T with a slight change here and there. There is mainly two difference from Oneplus 8T is, the design and processor.
In the form of design, We are getting the same stunning design and color options as we seen with Oneplus 9 Pro. The phone is slightly smaller than the Oneplus 9 Pro but It provides fairly comfortable to hold. Which is a good thing for using the smartphone single-handed for a long time without any palm stress.
Let’s talk about the chipset now. it comes with Snapdragon 870 up to 12GB Ram and 256GB of storage options. but the thing you might don’t know Snapdragon 870 is basically the Snapdragon 865 rebranded with slight upgrades. What is not good?
There is are no such major disadvantages in Oneplus 9R. but there are some minor things that you should know before buying Oneplus 9R.
For 5G bands, there is one lonely N78 5G. which is just to get 5G branding with Oneplus 9R similar to other 5G phones in India. And also do remember we are not getting wireless charging and water resistance.
OnePlus 9R: Should you buy?
This question should be answered based on our day-to-day usages. If you are an A photography enthusiast, then you should go for Oneplus 9 Pro. which comes with Hasselblad camera systems. This is the main thing which the company hyped for the Oneplus 9 Series from the very beginning.
But if you’re looking for a good balance between capabilities and cost with Oneplus branding. Then Oneplus 9R is perfect for you. If you used Oneplus 8T earlier, then you are going to like it. Oneplus 9R is a slightly better design, better screen, and better performance, and slightly better price than Oneplus 8T. also it heats less than oneplus 9.
So overall the Oneplus 9R is a good all-around smartphone that you can go with the budget for 40K.
