Redmi Note 10 Review: An Ideal Budget Mid Ranger?

Overview:

Redmi Note 10 is one of the three smartphones (Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro, and Redmi Note 10 Pro Max) launched by Redmi in India recently.

First off, Let’s go over the specs of the Redmi note 10. This particular smartphone powered by the QUALCOMM Snapdragon 678 chipset. it’s a very slight refresh of the snapdragon 675. which launched about two years ago. So, it retains the same 11-nanometer processor and also remains the same octa-core design. The only thing that really changes is there’s a very slight bump in clock speed.

This phone also comes with 6GB of ram and an AMOLED display. Which is pretty impressive at this price point. There’s a 5000 mAh battery and a 48-megapixel primary camera with 8 megapixels of ultra-wide, 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Redmi Note 10 Performance:

On paper, The Redmi Note 10 does feel impressive but also leaves a few questions. So today we’re going to dig into the QUALCOMM snapdragon 678 performance.

So, let’s begin, when it comes to benchmark numbers, Redmi Note 10 is very impressive. In the below Graph, The AnTuTu 8.0 score for the Redmi note 10 is 239622. Where phones for example- like the POCO M3, that recently launched with the snapdragon 662 scores 181207. And Narzo 30A, which comes with the Helio G85 chipset scores 201637. So, Redmi note 10 is the clear winner here.

While the CPU numbers are very impressive for Redmi Note 10. Let’s take a look at the GPU benchmark for this phone. hmmm. it’s the GPU benchmark where the phone lags, while testing with 3DMark Wildlife, Redmi note 10 has 482 points where the Narzo 30A gets 701. So Narzo 30A is winning this round.

Leaving the numbers behind, let’s check-in the real-world scenario with some gaming on this smartphone. When we move over to real-world gaming while playing call of duty mobile with Redmi note 10. we see the same kind of behavior, with having a medium frame rate of 48 FPS at low graphics and stability of just 58 percent. Where Narzo 30A had a 58 FPS and stability of 87 percent.

But of course, this is just a benchmark-based analysis and we all know, Xiaomi is great on its software updates. And we believe, these things will be sorted out in the next upcoming software updates.

Redmi Note 10 Camera:

The camera on Note 10 is a 48-megapixel primary camera with 8 megapixels of ultra-wide, 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

In our camera test, the camera performance appears good outdoors as well as in indoor lighting conditions. With decent light conditions, it does a decent job but we have to be careful and be realistic about the camera performance in indoor lighting conditions. Yes, if you’re not careful in indoor lighting conditions while taking the snap. It’s added some blurriness to the photos but again that is to be expected. This is not a flagship smartphone that costs 70 or 80K. Let’s be realistic for the price point. In our test, the camera performance appears great and if we compare it with some of the other smartphones with the same price tag, definitely Redmi note 10 camera performance is slightly better optimized but again, don’t expect miracles with the camera in indoor lighting conditions.

Redmi Note 10 Display:

Okay, let’s talk about the screen and this is the big thing Xiaomi says – This is a SUPER AMOLED screen. it’s a 6.43-inch screen. And it’s nice to hold in the hand. Redmi note 10 comes with an AMOLED panel which is going to be very impressive. The display settings allow you to choose between a more natural tone, A saturated one, and an automatic mode. You also have the option of choosing your white balance which is a pretty good thing.

Let’s understand how this screen quality is better than mid-range smartphones in this price range.

The first one is color accuracy – The colors look actually accurate on this. No weird over-saturation or extra-pale colors or something like that. So color reproduction is good.

The second thing is outdoor visibility – In this device, we are getting great outdoor even when using auto-brightness. Note 10 is easily visible in outdoor conditions.

So, the AMOLED screen on Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 with 60Hz is a Best-In class in this price range.

Sound:

Next up the sound quality of this device. Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 features dual stereo speakers. One on the top, one at the bottom and they are asymmetric in their placement so no matter how you hold the phone, one speaker will always be outputting clear sound. Speakers on this device are decently usable if you’re just sitting in a quiet room by yourself but if you go into a noisy environment, they’re not that loud and not very clear.

Battery:

The next impressing thing is the battery life on this phone. A Massive 5000 mAh battery supports 33W (in-box) fast charging that fuels up the device within minutes. This device has an AMOLED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. and with this panel, we are getting about a day and a half easy on this with daily usages.

Design:

The built-in design of this phone feels great in its hands. It is 0.6mm thinner and 20.2g lighter than the Redmi Note 9. The white finish on the Note 10 is quite neat. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and interestingly it’s not as flat or wide as we’ve seen in competing devices so it’s actually pretty much exactly like a normal power button with a fingerprint sensor embedded into it and it works reliably well. it’s fast too without having any issues using this at all.

In the front, Gorilla glass 3 protects the device from unexpected falls and unwanted scratches.

Conclusion:

Okay, let’s conclude this review now. The Note 10 does come with a few compelling features like – Large 5000mAh battery, a 48-megapixel camera, and it’s got an AMOLED display. but when it actually comes down to performance whether it’s gaming, especially gaming – it lags behind the competition. And what about after a year from now. it’ll still be as smooth that is as it is today? – As we know Android devices do tend to get slower over a period of time as they get filled up and as they go through multiple iterations of apps being installed-removed data being moved in and out of the phone.

So, if your budget is just 12000 bucks. You could consider this device with no doubt about it. It’s got a great set of features and as long as you’re willing to accept the fact that you’re not going to have the fastest phone in the market you should be fine. You still do get great battery life, A decent camera setup with a great display and you also get a headphone jack.
