Emmett Till was accused of whistling at a white woman and her mother in Mississippi
Following this, Emmett Till was abducted and brutally tortured before getting killed
His mutilated body was found in Tallahatchie River, where he was shot
Biden plans to create the monuments in three sites in Illinois and Mississippi.
Illinois site is Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ. It is a place where thousands of people gathered to mourn Emmett Till after his death.
Graball Landing and Tallahatchie County are sites in Mississippi where Till’s killer was tried and acquitted by an all-white jury
