Australia bans students from Indian states; Here is why!

The student visa abuse has forced the universities in Australia to ban at least six Indian states. While students visa facilitates global academic exposure, in India, it has also become a way to bypass the immigration rules. At least data and trends confirm this.

As per reports, Australian universities have stopped accepting students from six India states — Punjab, Himanchal Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Indian students are significant portion of international students studying in Australia.

How many Indian students in the US, Australia and Canada?

Approximately 1.2 lakh Indian students are currently studying in various Australian universities. The ban on six Indian students raises eyebrows. While the ban is coming from the data analysis on visa misuse, and previous trends, it shows the gap in the student migration system across the world. The USA has almost 3.3 lakhs students from India whereas, Canada has around 1.28 lakh students from India.
